Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Lead)
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, performs the full range of field-level overhaul and end-item repair work on chassis group units of one or more type of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, diesel or multi-fuel. Counsels employees and provides input on employee appraisals1. Supervises subordinate motor vehicle mechanics. Performs the full range of field-level overhaul and repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline or multi-fuel. Types include those in commercial, industrial, or tactical use such as passenger cars, trucks, forklift trucks and warehouse tractors, jeeps, multi-wheel drive vehicles with automatic transmissions and auxiliary equipment. 2. Determines exact nature and extent of repairs required and performs major and minor overhaul and repair on engines, power transmissions, suspension, steering and braking operational systems and related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel and engine assemblies. 3. Make operational checks and adjustments as required. 4. Uses specialized testing equipment such as compression testers, motor analyzers and test benches. 5. Directs work of junior and helper mechanics as required. 6. Counsels employees on a regular basis and provides input to appraisals.7. Reviews work in progress and upon completion for conformance to standards.8. Maintains EHS and Key Control records.9. Proficient in proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Two years experience in vehicle maintenance at the worker, helper or apprentice level. Must have a valid drivers license.
Certifications /Education
High School diploma or equivalent.
